A Woman’s Battle Plan For Serious, Specific, and Strategic Prayer

by Priscilla Shirer

Our women’s group followed up our study of the Battle Plan for Prayer with this book written by Priscilla Shirer. This study reminds us that we are at war with Satan. He is working hard right this minute trying to destroy everything we hold dear.

Using scripture, prayer, and insight, this study offers us the tools (and the plan) we need to prepare ourselves for the battle. Each chapter gives us a strategy and topic to focus on as we seek to grow stronger, bolder, and more confident in our personal prayer life. Each chapter ends with us writing our own strategic prayers based on each topic. Anyone interested was encouraged to share their prayers with the group if they wanted to.

Ten Topics and Strategies

Chapters one and two focuses on how to revitalize our passion for prayer and how to fight against the distractions that sidetrack our focus. Chapter three reminds us who we are—who we think we are, who Satan tries to convince us we are, and who God says we are. Chapter four urges us to pray for our family and guard against the enemy’s destructive infiltrations as he tries to disintegrate our home life.

Chapters five and six explains how to identify the various ways the enemy attacks our confidence and makes us question our calling. We are persuaded to build up resistance to certain sins that endanger our purity of spirit in chapter seven.

In chapter eight, we learn how Satan attempts to overload our life and schedule, keeping us so busy we forget the importance of rest and contentment when it comes to serving the Lord.

The importance of forgiveness is stressed in chapter nine so that we can guard our hearts from anger, hurt, and bitterness. And chapter ten encourages us toward unity with our fellow Christians by realizing how much Satan hates for us to stand together serving our Almighty God.

This book was a very good read. Our group broke it down into ten study sessions–one topic and strategy for each chapter.

Recommendation:

I would recommend this book to anyone who is (1) ready to identify Satan’s destructive attempts to intervene in our prayer life, and (2) come up with a personal battle plan that, with practice, will strengthen our prayer life.

Disclaimer:

For those of you who love to read, I am sharing a quick review of some of the Christian-based books I have read and Bible studies I have participated in, both personally and in a group. These are my favorites.

I always appreciate others’ input and suggestions when trying to decide on my next reading project, so I hope this will be helpful when you are trying to decide on your next read and/or study.

These reviews are based on my opinion, and I was not compensated in any way for reading them or reviewing them.
