This Bible study is designed to help believers become more devoted to prayer and to learn how to faithfully utilize the weapon of prayer in the battles of life. Based on the book, The Battle Plan for Prayer.
This is an eight-week study, with five daily devotions per week. It is easy to follow, and the daily lessons are short and based on Biblical concepts with scripture as a focal point each day.
Session 1 – Devoted to Prayer
Starting with the basics of prayer, we discuss how to pray, what it means to be devoted to prayer, and how to follow Jesus’ example of prayer.
Session 2 – Scheduled and Spontaneous Prayer
It is important to schedule time for prayer (and meet that schedule), as well as know how to fit spontaneous prayers into our hectic, daily lives.
Session 3 – Types of Prayer
The Lord’s Prayer is broken down into sections and we look at the individual petitions that Jesus taught us to make.
Session 4 – Locks and Keys of Prayer
During this week, we look at what might be hindering our prayer life (locks) and why God might not be answering our prayers. To counteract these locks, we try to determine the keys to “unlocking” a faithful, effective prayer life.
Session 5 – Spiritual Warfare
It is important to identify who the enemy is, how he works and why he is attacking us. We learn the importance of putting on the Armor of God and striving to take every wayward thought captive so that we can pray within the will of God.
Session 6 – Praying in Faith
When we pray do we really expect God to answer? Are we praying in faith, believing that God will answer, assured that he is concerned and cares about our requests and that he is a forgiving God?
Session 7 – Praying Specifically and Strategically
We can pray powerful prayers using scripture, praying the names of God, praying offensively, and asking for wisdom in our prayers.
Session 8 – Prayer Strategies
Reviewing prayer strategies, we can pray for our family and others close to us, for fellow Christians and those being neglected or in need.
Recommendation:
Each five-day session ends with a “prayer strategy target” outlining an effective way to manage our prayers and include everyone we feel led to pray for.
I would recommend this study to anyone who desires to nurture a deeper walk with God, whether you’re an inexperienced Bible study student or one who is well-versed in Scripture.
